I am an Artist, Registered Art Therapist and Educator and passionate about social change and justice. I have had an array of cultural experiences due to my global upbringing, having been born in Botswana, and living in Malawi, Sri Lanka and finally coming to Australia in 2007 to pursue my tertiary education. My passion for drawing began at the tender age of five. My main inspiration was cartoons when I was a child, but later discovered the use of art as a means of storytelling and sharing my own experiences of connection to others and nature.

It was in 2011, that I began to use my self-trained hobby for art, more seriously and organized my first exhibition to the public. I directed a group art exhibition as one that would benefit an organization that I had been volunteering since 2009 called Empower Projects. Due to the great success and having sold artworks and money earned for the organization, I organized another exhibition the year after as well, which too was a considerable success.

My work can be described as being quirky, eccentric, colourful and psychedelic creation with almost always a social message behind them. I use mixed media from clay and mosaic pieces to found objects such as dried leaves and flowers to shells. I seem to draw much of my inspiration and ideas from the perspective of a child, being in wonderment of the world around one’s self.

I am passionate about the power of art and have lived experience of how it can transform oneself as well as others. I know firsthand how it can be utilised as a tool to for those who feel that they do not have a voice, providing them a means to heal on their own terms having worked for over 6 years in a non-profit that supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from ages 3-8 dealing with transgenerational trauma. Part of this work involved flying weekly to a preschool and primary school in rural NSW.

I currently have just completed my Diploma in Early Childhood Education and looking forward to using my business Art =Works as a way to support children, educators, families and community to come together to express themselves and create environments that support learning and creativity!
